An Introduction to Herbalism – August

This 4-part class is for beginners who want to bring herbs into their everyday life. We will explore the many facets of herbs and herbal medicine.

Each class we will go over the basic physiology of two body systems. We’ll then go over common issues for each system, what herbal actions to use, and the best herbs to work with. Finally, we will go over some medicine making.

Dates: Tuesdays August 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th
Time: 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Herb Walk: Sunday, August 28th from 10:00 to 1:00 pm.

This 4-part herbalism course is for beginners who want to bring herbs into their everyday life. We will explore the many facets of herbs and herbal medicine. Class will cover basic human physiology and common herbal remedies for each body system. Students will learn to prepare a number of herbal products, including herbal extracts, salves, lotions, syrups and teas. This class includes an Herb Walk to a local natural area.

Medicine Making- Alcohol extractions & Oil Infusion
Week 2
System- Nervous and Cardiovascular
Medicine Making- Glycerite & Warming Balls
Week 3
System- Urinary and Respiratory
Medicine Making-  Hot and Cold infusions & Cough Syrup
Herb Walk
Plants of the local area and their medicinal value
Week 4
System- Reproductive, Skin, and Musculoskeletal
Medicine Making- Press out Tinctures and Oils & Salves
