Introduction to Herbalism is an opportunity to take the initial steps into the wisdom and magic of herbal medicine. Whether you want a practical foundation for bringing herbs into your everyday life, or are curious about following a deeper calling toward becoming an herbal practitioner, this course has everything you need to get started on your journey.
This 5-part series offers an immersive introduction to herbal medicine through the lens of major body systems and medicine making (tinctures, oils, salves, decoctions, syrups). Students will explore the physiology and common imbalances of the digestive, nervous, immune, and respiratory systems, while learning corresponding herbal actions and remedies.
Weekly sessions include informational lectures, herb tastings, and hands-on medicine-making, and herbs to work with at home throughout the week.
Field identification during the herb walk enhances students’ direct relationship with plants, while final presentations encourage integration of course material through personal insight and practical context.
