Year One: Clinical Practicum
Students will begin to work in and learn how to run an herbal clinic in this 300-hour course in clinical herbal studies and treatment strategies.

with a 30 minute lunch
Prerequisites
Completion of and certification through the Apprenticeship or Foundation & Therapeutic programs, Village Herbalist 1 & 2, and/or comparable level of herbal training and education. All clinicians must receive director’s consent, followed by unanimous approval of clinic staff upon completion of panel interview

Year One Clinical Practicum: Bridging Wisdom and Practice
A 45-Week, 300-Hour Professional Immersion
Transform your herbal knowledge into a thriving professional career. This 300-hour intensive is designed to move you from student to confident clinician through the “art of the clinical herbalist.” By the end of this year, you won’t just know herbs—you will be an expert in the professional workflows of a modern practice, from mastering SOAP notes and customized Plans of Care to navigating essential digital platforms like Jane App, Dispensary Tree, and Full Script.
The Practitioner’s Path
This program provides a supervised, supportive space to put your education into real-world action. Through supervised online client consultations and collaborative roundtable case reviews, you will build the “clinician muscle” that only comes from deep, repetitive practice.
Key Program Features:
- Clinical Hours: All hours count toward both education and partial clinic requirements for becoming a Registered Herbalist (RH) with the American Herbalists Guild.
- Direct Mentorship: Benefit from monthly 45-minute 1-on-1 mentor sessions to refine your unique clinical voice.
- The Living Materia Medica: Receive monthly single-herb tinctures to deepen your personal relationship with the plants at home.
- Professional Curriculum: Weekly lectures covering the complexities of clinical practice, including diagnostics, acute/chronic care, and holistic root-cause assessment.
Professional Development & Entrepreneurship
We don’t just train you to facilitate healing between plants and people; we train you to lead. Alongside clinical work in our busy Berkeley Community Herbal Clinic, you will develop the entrepreneurial
skills necessary for a successful business. This program is a transformational experience for the herbalist ready to step into their power and build a sustainable, impactful practice.
Capstone Project options tailored to your career goals include:
- Launching a professional website or business budget.
- Training with local free clinics or street medic groups.
- Teaching community classes or hosting public tea tastings and plant walks. ● Preparing high-level SOAP notes in AHG RH submission style.
Upon completion, clinicians have the option of continuing their journey into Year Two of the program for advanced leadership and continuing education opportunities.
Requirements for Graduation:
- Completion of all clinical documentation (SOAP Notes & Plans of Care).
- 80% attendance of clinic hours.
- Completion of year-long capstone projects.
- A commitment to respectful, ethical relationships with clients and peers.
Program Deposit: $2,000
Once you submit your deposit you will be interviewed by BHC staff regarding enrollment and acceptance into this program.
Remaining Tuition: $3,495
Remaining Tuition costs are due prior to program start date.
