Herb Camp – Immersive & Hands-on Herbal Medicine Making

Herb Camp is an immersive, hands-on herbal medicine making week. If you yearn to connect with other herbalists, the wild spirits of nature and the plants who ally with us to bring healing to our bodies, minds and spirits – this is a week you’ll never forget.

Over six days and five nights, you’ll learn plant identification and communication, regenerative harvesting methods and medicine making. You’ll learn about and practice herbal diagnostic techniques like tongue and pulse diagnosis in person. There will be plenty of time for hiking, swimming and experiencing the spectacular Smith River ecosystem that encompasses ancient redwood forests, crystal clear waterways, and beautiful beaches.

This year’s Herb Camp will take place on 45 acres of private land with private beach access to the Smith River. The site includes a sauna, a geodesic dome for gathering, and double-occupancy “glamping” tents. It’s just 10 minutes from Jedidiah State Redwood State park with some of the largest redwoods in the country, and 25 minutes from Northern California’s beautiful coast.

All meals will be catered by chef Deva Waring, who’ll prepare locally sourced, seasonal meals to invoke community and connection. Your body, mind and spirit will be nourished with organic, vibrant and herbal-infused goodness.

Dates: June 19th- 24th 2022

About the Smith River watershed: The Smith River is the largest undammed river in California. Its pristine water supports some of the healthiest salmon, steelhead, and coastal cutthroat trout populations remaining in the state. Unique geology, soils, and climate have created refuges for rare plants such as the carnivorous Pitcher Plant and Horned Butterwort. Average high temps in June are in the mid-60s. Nights are cold and clear – you’ll see all the stars and the Milky Way.

Location: Smith River watershed, near Crescent City, California. Directions provided upon enrollment.
