Join trained botanist and herbalist Lia Leibman (@herbalist.lia) on a journey through millions of years of the plant evolution story as we trace the lineages of this Earth’s magnificent green kingdom, from ancestral green algae to the flowering plants we know and love today. We will go over basic plant evolution, cell biology, systems of classification, and life cycles, tailoring class to herbalists (though non-herbalists are welcome and will also learn a ton!). Part two of class will be focused on plant identification – from dissecting flowers and learning their parts’ structures and functions to investigating leaf diversity and terms. We will end class by learning how to identify plants with keys and practicing at the park right outside BHC’s front door. Hope to see you there!
