The Amazing World of Mushrooms: A 3 Part Series

Join us as we delve into the amazing world of mushrooms and mushroom medicine. We will start by exploring mushrooms in general, looking at growth behavior, environmental relationships, and clues to proper identification. We will then turn our focus to some common medicinals and root around the duff of both traditional uses and current research. We will conclude with a conversation on the good and the bad of the mushroom medicines offered for sale in the marketplace, and how to make our own effective extracts at home.

In this class we will explore a variety of ways to make potent mushroom medicine. We will start with a discussion of different extraction methods, exploring the hows and the whys. Then we’ll roll up our sleeves and try our hand with each one. We will go home with the medicines we’ve made in class and the knowledge to continue making more.

We will spend this day exploring how to cultivate edible and medicinal mushrooms at home. We’ll talk about the easy ones, the hard ones, and the impossible ones. We’ll go through the process step by step and discuss what could go right and what could go wrong. Then we’ll get our hands in it and make oyster mushroom kits and shiitake logs to take home and grow out.
